The Illinois State Board of Education has required the redesign of all Illinois principal preparation programs as of fall 2012. The newly redesigned program will lead to a Principal Endorsement. The program described below is our current principal preparation program leading to a Type 75 General Administration Certificate. Spring 2012 is the last semester that USF will be accepting candidates in the current program.

Master of Science In Education (Educational Leadership: Type 75 General Administrative Certificate)
Upon completion of the degree program, candidates will:
- Demonstrate leadership skills needed to assume administrative roles in the field of education.
- Lead the professional education community through knowledge and service
- Develop and apply research and communication skills to support the role of the educational leader and scholar
- Demonstrate the skills of reflective and critical thinking to explore the larger purposes of education to the individual and society
- Demonstrate awareness of varied educational needs of students and apply current research-based strategies and methodologies, including technology, that meet the needs of diverse students
- Analyze ongoing issues, theories and trends with a focus on applications in classroom settings that can improve K-12 student learning
- Provide a context to improve the quality of education, and ensure equal opportunities and the dignity of each student in a diverse society
- Demonstrate professional dispositions consistent with the Interstate School Leadership Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) standards, the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) standards and the College of Education’s Code of Professional Conduct

- Standard 2.0 (ISLLC) An education leader promotes the success of every student by advocating nurturing and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.
- Standard 3.0 (ISLLC) An education leader promotes the success of every student by ensuring management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
- Standard 4.0 (ISLCC) An education leader promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
- Standard 5.0 (ISLCC) An education leader promotes the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
- Standard 6.0 (ISLCC) An education leader promotes the success of every student by understanding, responding to, and influencing the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.
- Standard 7.0 (ELCC) The internship provides significant opportunities for candidates to synthesize and apply the knowledge and practice and develop the skills identified in Standards 1-6 through authentic experiences that are field-based, standards-based, sustained and guided by qualified on-site mentors for graduate credit.
