The nation is facing a critical shortage of nurses and allied health professionals. We at USF are striving to help alleviate this shortage by educating motivated students to successfully complete our baccalaureate, master’s and doctorate programs in nursing.

USF nursing students learn to work with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. You will also receive a high level of personal attention and individual guidance while enjoying a close-knit environment with your classmates, on site or online.

USF’s nursing programs are accredited by the prestigious Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Scholarships

Nurse Educator Scholarship Program is designed to attract capable and promising students to the nursing educator profession. This scholarship also provides an opportunity for individuals interested in making a career change to the nurse educator profession.

The Leach Endowed Scholarship is made available to full-time nursing students who demonstrate financial need. Recipients must also have cumulative 2.5 GPA. The scholarship is generously funded by John and Cecily Leach, long-time supporters nursing and health care in the area and abroad. The Leach Endowed Scholarship has assisted hundreds of students.

Honor Society/Student Organizations

The University of St. Francis Upsilon Delta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International recognizes superior achievement and leadership qualities; fosters high professional standards; and encourages creative work. The honor society also works to strengthen the commitment to the ideals and purposes of the nursing profession. Both undergraduate and graduate students who meet the following criteria may be inducted:

  • Undergraduate Students must complete half of the nursing curriculum; achieve academic excellence with 3.0 GPA or higher; rank in the upper 35 percentile of the graduating class; and meet the expectation of academic integrity.
  • Registered Nurse Students must have completed 12 credit hours at USF; have completed half of the nursing curriculum; achieve academic excellence with 3.0 GPA or higher; rank in the upper 35 percentile of graduating class; and meet the expectation of academic integrity.
  • Graduate Students (master’s and doctorate) must have completed one-quarter of the nursing curriculum; achieve academic excellence with 3.5 GPA or higher; and meet the expectation of academic integrity.
  • Nurse Leader Candidates must be legally recognized to practice nursing in his/her country; have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field; and demonstrate achievement in nursing.

Student Nurse Association is a fellowship of nursing students who are involved in the university and community. SNA also helps create an understanding of professional nursing organizations.
