Schola Cantorum

The USF Schola Cantorum, a select chamber ensemble of 26 voices, performs a wide variety of choral repertoire, specializing in Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque works for chamber choir.

The Schola Cantorum, an auditioned choral ensemble, was founded in 1992 by director Dr. Patrick Brannon. The group has performed a variety of choral works ranging from Gregorian Chant and Renaissance polyphony to choral masterworks and newly commissioned compositions. The Schola Cantorum performs for a number of campus concerts and events, and has performed in area churches, schools, nursing homes, and for local civic groups. In recent years, the choir has done a Spring Tour, visiting area schools and churches. They have performed at New Melleray Abbey (a Trappist Monastery in Dubuque, Iowa), the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, The Art Institute of Chicago and several Rockford area schools.

The Schola Cantorum perform in a Fall and Spring recital each year, and a special Holiday concert in December, featuring a variety of carols and selections for the Christmas season.
