Remediation

Didactic Phase

Remediation is available throughout the duration of any course in order to address student deficiencies in knowledge or skills. Remediation may be initiated by the student who believes they are in need of assistance. It may also be initiated by the course director when deficiencies in student performance become apparent. In either case, the student and course director will meet to define the deficiency and plan a course of intervention, ie., tutoring, weekly meetings with instructor. Remediation plans must be written and documented on the appropriate forms.

Clinical Phase

Remediation is available throughout the duration of the clinical year in order to address student deficiencies in knowledge or skills. Remediation may be initiated by the student who believes they are in need of assistance. It may also be initiated by the clinical preceptor or clinical coordinator when deficiencies in student performance become apparent. Either circumstance will result in the following action: the student and clinical coordinator, in consultation with the clinical preceptor, will meet to define the deficiency and plan a course of intervention. Remediation plans must be written and documented on the appropriate forms.
