The thrill of a court battle comes to life for students involved with the Mock Trial Competition Team. During competition tournaments, students work with attorney advisers to prepare all aspects of the case, from preparation to arguments, and even to a judge’s decision.
The Mock Trial Competition Team, part of the American Mock Trial Association, competes from October through March against schools such as Michigan State, University of Illinois, Northwestern, and University of Chicago, to name a few. The team regularly receives an invitation to the national tournament and has won trophies for team excellence as well as individual student awards. USF sponsors its own invitational tournament in the fall. Students may take the class Legal Process-Mock Trial two times for college credit.
For students interested in law, the mock trials bring invaluable experience, networking opportunities and even future career placements.
