The small size of the University provides enormous opportunities to get involved, especially in the Mass Communication department. At some larger schools, students have to wait until their Junior or Senior year to even touch the equipment, but at USF I could jump right in as a Freshman and start practicing with real-life application. It's only my second year here, but I'm already writing for the newspaper and have my own radio airshift. And thanks to the small student-to-teacher ratio, I have had amazing guidance directly from the professors in my major.

I came from a really small high school, so I felt much more comfortable at a small university like USF rather then a larger school. The professors are all extremely friendly, and I love that I know most of them on a first-name basis. The first time that I visited here, I noticed right away how nice everyone was to me. The counselors, the other students, and the professors all went out of there way to make me feel welcome. I really feel comfortable referring to St. Francis as my home away from home.

I’m Tony Lavorata. I’m a freshman Theology major at the University of St. Francis. The reason I chose USF is because of the small class sizes and close knit community. I preferred being known by name rather than by a number. It's like having a very large family. I love the campus ministry here and I can hardly wait to spend more years here at St. Francis.

Hi everyone!! My name is Megan and I am a sophomore majoring in Secondary Education and Social Sciences. When I began looking at colleges, I was initially hesitant of the small private school setting because I had attended public school my entire life. I decided, however, to make a personal visit and it was throughout the course of my campus tour that I fell in love with the University of St. Francis. The campus is small and cozy and its proximity to home allows me to grow independent but still visit my parents whenever I wish. Also, I was impressed with the statistics from USF's College of Education and I found myself realizing that USF was definitely my home away from home. This is where I chose to live and grow for four years of my life and it is a decision I will never regret.

I chose The University of St. Francis for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and the spiritual aspect of the university. I visited several schools but everyone at USF was so friendly, and I immediately felt welcomed into the family. Also, I really enjoy all of the clubs and activities that the university has to offer. I am so happy that I chose Saint Francis and I know that throughout my college career I will be offered many opportunities to be challenged and grow.

Years before making my college decision, I visited numerous universities and colleges - large and small, but none had I felt more welcomed and comforted than St. Francis. The individual attention and concern for me as a student as well as a person has allowed me to develop knowledge and enthusiasm within my major. Besides this, the warm community St. Francis offers, since orientation weekend, has brought me friends I will share even after I graduate, and has allowed me to develop my interests, talents, intellect, and new family I have grown here at St. Francis.

My name is Clayton and I am a sophomore here at USF. I fell in love with University the minute I set foot here. Coming from a small High School to here kept the same close knit feel of a family. Here at St. Francis you do become part of a family and build bonds with professors that would not happen in a larger school.

Coming from a fairly large high school, I knew that choosing a small college was a must when I began my college search. I had a difficult time narrowing down my choices but it was the friendly atmosphere at USF that helped me make up my mind. I remember coming to my first USF Visit Day and being shocked by the number of people approaching me, just to see if I had questions or if there was anything they could do for me. I could call in and ask questions and always hung up the phone completely satisfied with my answers. Financial Aid was even willing to meet with me several times before my Freshman year even began, just to make sure I had enough scholarships and grants to help with my tuition. I graduate in May and have never once regretted my choice to attend USF.

St. Francis was a natural choice for me. Besides the outstanding nursing program, it was the perfect family environment. The teachers, upper classmen and especially the veteran SAC members made me feel like on of the team right away. Everyone was so open and willing to make my experience at USF unforgettable.

Because I am from the Joliet area, I really enjoy staying close to my home. The University of St. Francis has so much to offer for those from far away or really close by! I looked at many Universities and small colleges throughout Illinois but this one just stuck out above all the others. The family atmosphere, the friendly faces, and the togetherness makes this place unlike any other colleges. Although I do not participate in any collegiate sports, the University has so much to offer with clubs and such, for example, I am involved with many extra curriculars such as the University Of Success Scholars, Schola Cantorum, Saints Ambassadors Corps, and University Ministry. USF helped me achieve so many dreams before even becoming an official student. I really am thankful for all of the financial assistance and scholarships I have received from them. Coming to this college has been the best decision I have ever made in my entire life and I am looking ahead to 4 wonderful years!!!

When I was looking at colleges as a senior in high school, the University of St. Francis was the only school that I even considered. All I had to do was attend one Visit Day and I knew that this was the place where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life. I came from a small, catholic high school and, in many ways, I was looking for that same environment in a college. Here at USF, I love the close-knit feel of the campus, the smiling faces I see day after day, and the enthusiastic professors who make learning so much fun. I know I have grown in many ways since I started going here, and I know I will continue to grow until the day I graduate. USF is my home, and it will always have a place in my heart!

The University of St. Francis was a great choice for me. The small classes help me to have a connection with my professors. To them, I am not just a number. They care about my performance in school. If I am sick and miss class, they call to make sure that I am okay. It helps to know that someone cares about me, and I know that this will help me get through the more difficult times in school.
