Angie, an Illinois native and Joliet resident for 10 years, grew up in a family that hosted many foreign exchange students. Since then, her life and career have been devoted to promoting cultural and linguistic understanding between people all around the world. She received B.A. degrees in International Studies and Political Science from Loyola University Chicago, where she also received her M.A. in Political Science (International). She is currently finishing her M.A. in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). Angie studied abroad in Rome, Italy for a year and has traveled to 23 countries. Before coming to USF, Angie held positions in a refugee resettlement organization, a translation agency, and an the international office at Rush University Medical Center, and she has taught or tutored ESL and academic English to very diverse students and refugees for 15 years. She is very excited to welcome international students to USF and to help facilitate unique cultural and academic experiences during their time in the United States.

Maureen is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan and is a graduate of Central Michigan University. While studying Journalism and Spanish at CMU, Maureen also studied abroad in Seville, Spain. Upon returning from studying abroad, Maureen continued encouraging students to study abroad while working as an assistant editor at a study abroad magazine and as the travel editor for Central Michigan University’s online magazine. Since then, she has worked with stu¬dents from all over the world in various capacities. She has worked as a resident advisor in Oxford, England and Barcelona, Spain where she was responsible for helping students acclimate to life in another country, and as an Academic Director in Bogota, Colombia. As the Academic Director, Maureen assisted international students with applying to U.S. universities, giving her a unique perspective when it comes to assisting USF’s international students. Maureen hopes that she can inspire USF students to study abroad while also continually creating a welcoming environment for USF’s international student population.
