Joanne Hostrander, Ph.D., M.S., RN, '89, '98

Dr. Joanne Hostrander, (B.S. Health Arts ‘89, M.S. Health Services Administration‘98) is an accomplished health care educator who strives to provide the highest level of service to her community, professional colleagues and students. “Hostrander’s caring nature and desire to serve her community are attributes that emulate the spirit of St. Francis,” said Sara Niedrich, director of Instructional Services for the College of Professional Studies, who nominated Hostrander for the Alumni Association Board President’s Award. Hostrander is an education specialist for the Susquehanna Health System Education Department in Williamsport, Pa. She also develops, coordinates and evaluates programs for the Life Center. She is an adjunct professor for the Health Arts and Health Services Administration programs in Williamsport.

As a regional coordinator for the College of Professional Studies, she assists in recruiting adjunct faculty and conducting academic site visits. Hostrander was instrumental in creating the USF North Central Pennsylvania Alumni Association in 2005 through a class project she championed with her graduate students.

An accomplished speaker having completed more than 400 specialty engagements and programs, Hostrander has authored a curriculum on Holistic Integrated Healing, received numerous nursing and allied health certifications, and is active in five community partnership programs. She was honored with the 1990 Nurse of the Year Award and the 1993 Employee of the Month Award from Divine Providence Hospital. She also received the 2004 American Business Women’s First Place Contributor’s Award. Hostrander is married and has two children.
