Calling all University of St. Francis education and computer science alumni. Alumni chapters designed for socializing and networking with your fellow alumni are now forming.
Assistant professor Donna Metlicka has volunteered to lead the College of Education Alumni Chapter, which is open to all College of Education graduates. “An alumni chapter just for them will be more intimate and they will be able to join knowing they have common experiences with other members,” she said. “It’s a way to stay in contact with the graduates and share in their job successes, family and life changes.” Metlicka plans to host a variety of gatherings and events, but expects the membership to drive the content based on their needs and interests.
For computer science alumni, assistant professor Ruth Weldon will serve as chapter leader. Weldon and some alumni have met informally over recent years, but she anticipates that the formal group will “help us extend our contacts.” “Our events tend to be alumni-student interactions with plenty of time for the alumni to renew old friendships and make new contacts,” Weldon said.
The university has more than 42,000 alumni nationwide. Alumni chapters in Minneapolis and Birmingham, Ala., also were launched this spring.
