Nursing students can find assistance for a variety of courses and requirements.

Pathophysiology
SI, a special study group for Pathophysiology, is offered weekly by a student-leader.  Join the group any day. Room and time to be announced.

Dosage Calculations
Help with understanding the math involved in dosage calculations can be found in the Math Center on a drop-in basis.  The nursing student, for greatest benefit, is encouraged to seek assistance well before the exam.  Since tutors are math majors and not nursing students, they will assist with the mathematics involved which is usually the largest block to success on this exam.  However, questions dealing with medical aspects (such as terminology) is best dealt with by a nursing tutor.

Other Nursing Courses
For assistance in other areas of nursing or in particular nursing courses, tutors will be assigned upon request.  To request a tutor for a nursing course, please contact Terri Reyes. If there is a request for tutoring in Nursing 308 or 310, contact Terri Reyes at the above email address. The greatest benefits result from early requests.

Nursing Tests
Students often find nursing questions and tests a new challenge.  Their style and expectations go far beyond remembering facts.  In order to learn how to break down, analyze, and answer nursing questions, students may access a computer program called Test-Taking Skills. This program is available to USF students on the USF server.  Additional information on test-taking skills for nurses is available in the Academic Resource Center, located in the library, Room 214.

NCLEX
NCLEX preparation aids can be found in ARC and on USF computers.  The Academic Resource Center has a number of NCLEX Q&A books that also offer rationales for answers.  In addition, computer software offers test-taking information with the opportunity to practice questions in an NCLEX.
