Cognitive Taxonomy

Educators have worked out many ways to look at different aspects of learning. The classification systems can help write learning objectives and assess learning outcomes. The most popular one was the educational taxonomy developed by Benjamin Bloom (1956), which has been developed and revised by other researchers. Some examples of other models include William Perry's theory of college students' thinking development (1970, 1981) and Stephen Toulmin's argumentation model (1984), which are very helpful to assessing higher-order thinking skills and writing.
