For Immediate Release
January 11, 2007

JOLIET, Ill. - University of St. Francis has announced the signing of three individuals to letters of intent in football, including two who will be joining the program for the current spring semester in Benjamin Elston (Villa Grove H.S./Villa Grove, IL) and De’Andre Nunn (Providence Catholic H.S./Joliet, IL).

Also signing was Wade Ferm (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox, IL), who will enroll at USF in the fall.

Elston, a 6-0 wide receiver, helped lead his Villa Grove High School team to its first playoff appearance since 1997 in the fall of 2005, where he posted a team-high 655 yards receiving on 29 catches. He also intercepted a pair of passes on defense.

A two-time varsity letterwinner in both football and baseball, Elston is a transfer from Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois.

Nunn returns to the area after wrestling at NCAA I University of Northern Iowa each of the past two seasons.

At Providence Catholic High School, Nunn was a part of three Celtic teams to advance to the IHSA state football title game with both the 2001 and 2002 squads coming away with state championships.

Nunn rushed for 495 yards and six touchdowns in six games during his senior year (2003), while making 52 tackles in five games on defense. As a sophomore, he rushed for over 1,200 yards and 26 touchdowns on the lower level before being called up to the varsity team for the postseason.

A 5-10, 215-lb. linebacker, Nunn was recognized as a top 100 area player by the Chicago Sun-Times and a second team all-area selection by the Joliet Herald News his senior year.

Nunn also excelled on the wrestling mat, where he claimed an IHSA Class AA state title at 189 lbs. in 2004, not to mention an AAU folkstyle championship and a USA Greco-Roman title. A three-time USA Wrestling freestyle all-American, he twice won freestyle state championships and placed seventh at the freestyle Junior World team trials.

Ferm is coming off a senior season on the gridiron at Lincoln-Way Central High School, where he earned honorable mention all-SouthWest Suburban Conference accolades for the 6-4 Knights.

A 6-1, 180-lb. linebacker, Ferm has also made a name for himself on the basketball court, where he has been an all-area pick his last two seasons (honorable mention as a sophomore, fourth team last year) and an all-conference choice last winter.

Ferm, a member of Lincoln-Way Central’s National Honor Society and a regular on its high honor roll, plans on majoring in pre-law.

Nunn and Elston are both undecided on their majors.
