JOLIET, Ill. -- University of St. Francis head football coach Mike Uremovich announces the signing of three more Chicagoland-area high school seniors and two junior college student-athletes to letters-of-intent to attend USF and play for the Saints next fall.

The group includes linebacker Mike Barry (Providence Catholic H.S./New Lenox, IL), defensive back Brenton Valentine (Morris H.S./Morris, IL), offensive/defensive lineman Ryan Ramos (Oak Forest H.S./Midlothian, IL), defensive end Alex Lebron (College of Du Page/Hinsdale South H.S./Darien, IL) and defensive back Alonzo Lee (Joliet JC/Hubbard H.S./Chicago, IL).

Barry (5-9. 180) is a three-sport standout at nearby Providence Catholic. He has lettered four times in football, twice in wrestling and three times in baseball. He served as captain of the 2006 Celtics football squad and was also named the team’s defensive MVP. He captured all-Chicago Catholic League (Blue Division) honors as a senior. He also was recognized as an all-state Special Mention selection in 2006 by the Chicago Tribune and earned all-area accolades from the Herald News and the Star.

Valentine (6-0, 185) joins his older brother Brandon on the Saints’ football roster. An accomplished football player and wrestler at Morris High, Valentine has won a total of 11 varsity letters in his four years (three in football and four each in wrestling and track). He is a two-time all-area selection in football by both the Morris Daily Herald and the Herald News.

He twice earned first-team all-Southwest Prairie Conference honors and was his team’s captain and defensive MVP as a senior. His Redskins were state runners-up in 2004 and won a state title in 2005. In wrestling, Valentine twice advanced to the Illinois state championship meet and placed fourth as a sophomore in 2005. He is a three-time all-Southwest Prairie Conference champion.

Ramos (6-2, 275) earned four letters in football at Oak Forest High and was part of a team that finished 10-3 and reached the semifinals of the Illinois Class 6A state playoffs. He served as captain of the Bengals and was an all-area pick by the Star and an all-South Suburban Conference selection.

Lebron (6-4, 270) comes to St. Francis from College of Du Page. He graduated from Hinsdale South H.S. in 2001 and was a two-time letterman in football for the Hornets. He also lettered three times in outdoor track and twice in indoor track. He captured a conference championship in the discus throw as a senior and placed 37th in the state meet in that event. He also served as captain of the track team his senior year.

Lee (5-9, 185) comes to USF from crosstown Joliet Junior College. He graduated from Hubbard H.S. in Chicago in 2004 and played football and ran track for the Greyhounds. He was named his team’s Most Improved Player as a senior and was selected to the all-Chicago Public League team. He also garnered honorable mention all-state recognition. He was selected to play in the “City vs. the State” all-star game following his senior season. He helped lead the Greyhounds to the state playoffs in both his junior and senior seasons. He also held the Hubbard school record in the 400-meter dash with an indoor clocking of 51.9 seconds.
