MATUSZEWSKI NAMED CCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For Immediate Release
February 16, 2005

University of St. Francis senior guard Allen Matuszewski (Providence Catholic H.S./Shorewood, IL) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending February 13, 2005.

Matuszewski gained the recognition after authoring a career-high six three-point baskets en route to team-high scoring honors against both Olivet Nazarene University (Feb. 8) and Purdue University-Calumet, IN (Feb. 12) last week. In USF’s 79-66 loss to Olivet Nazarene, Matuszewski registered a career-high 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting from long range. Four nights later in a 69-55 victory over Purdue-Calumet, he was perfect from the field with all six shots coming from from three-point territory in an 18-point performance.

For the two games, Matuszewski shot .706 from three-point range (12 of 17) with only one other attempt coming from inside the arc. He also netted a pair of free throws in averaging 19.0 points per game.

The pair of efforts marked the first time in his career that Matuszewski has scored in double figures in back-to-back games. Over the past six games, he has averaged 12.3 points per contest and has produced 11 or more points in four of those affairs.

For the season, Matuszewski leads the team in three-point shooting with his .424 mark and ranks second behind senior forward Brandon Krug (Dwight H.S./Dwight, IL) in total three-pointers with 42. Krug has 66.

All but four of Matuszewski’s 46 field goals have come from long range, leading to his 4.8 scoring average on the season.
