May 6, 2006
Three
University of St. Francis softball players
were recently voted to the all-Chicagoland
Collegiate Athletic Conference first
team, including two repeat selections
from 2005.
Sophomore
second baseman Jamie Redman (Lincoln-Way
Central HS/New Lenox, IL) and junior
third baseman Jaci Warner (Plainfield
Central HS/Crest Hill, IL) were
selected to the honor squad again this
season. Junior utility player Stacy
Schultz (Romeoville HS/Joliet, IL) earned
the distinction for the first time.
Redman
led USF in hitting with a .469 batting
average, tying the second-best single-season
mark in school history. She also topped
the team in hits (69), doubles (21,
a USF record), total bases (109), slugging
percentage (.741), stolen bases (14)
and runs scored (54).
Schultz
narrowly missed the magical .400
mark in batting average, finishing her
third season at USF with a .399 mark.
She was twice named CCAC Player of the
Week in 2006 (the only Saint to earn
the distinction) and enjoyed a career-best
20-game hitting streak that came to
an end in the first game of last weeks
CCAC Championship tournament.
Warner
has now made the all-league team
three straight years in as many seasons
at USF. She was voted Freshman of the
Year in 2004 and Player of the Year
as a sophomore in 2005. She hit .387
for the season with team-high marks
in home runs (8) and RBI (38). She also
eclipsed the USF career home run mark
this season and finished the year with
a total of 29 career round-trippers.
The
Saints concluded their season with a
fourth-place finish Thursday in the
CCAC tourney. USF finished with a 26-22
overall record and a 10-8 mark in regular-season
CCAC play.
