May 2, 2007

Three University of St. Francis softball players were recently voted to the all-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors teams.

Senior third baseman Jaci Warner (Plainfield Central HS/Crest Hill, IL) earned first-team honors for the fourth straight year, while junior second baseman Jamie Redman (Lincoln-Way Central HS/New Lenox, IL) was selected to the first unit for the third consecutive season. Freshman catcher Stacy Heap (Minooka H.S./Minooka, IL) was the third Lady Saint to be recognized, earning Honorable Mention accolades.

Warner had made the all-league team in all four of her collegiate seasons at USF. She was voted Freshman of the Year in 2004 and Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2005. She hit .374 as a senior this spring with 3 home runs and a team-high 38 RBI. She also led USF in doubles (10) and shared the team lead in walks (13). She posted a .976 fielding percentage, making just 3 errors in 127 total chances in 41 starts at third base. She graduates with the USF career home run mark, finishing with a total of 32.

Redman, who also has been an all-CCAC performer since the day she stepped foot on the USF campus, led the Saints in hitting with a .415 batting average. She has hit above the .400 mark in all three of her seasons at USF, including a .469 mark as a sophomore in 2005. She also topped the team in hits (61), home runs (5), triples (5), total bases (93), slugging percentage (.633), stolen bases (11) and runs scored (42).

Heap started 23 games and played in a total of 30, most of them behind the plate. She finished with the team’s third-highest batting average at .342, trailing only Redman and Warner.

The Saints concluded their season with a 22-21 overall record and a 10-8 mark in regular-season CCAC play. USF finished in a tie for fourth in the CCAC standings and advanced to the second round of the conference tournament.
