WATT NAMED CCAC PITCHER
OF THE WEEK

of St. Francis redshirt freshman Kerri
Watt (Lincoln-Way Central H.S./New Lenox,
IL) has been named the Chicagoland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball
Pitcher of the Week after playing a
role in four of the Lady Saints
six victories over the seven-day period
ending on Sunday (April 10).
Watt,
a right-hander, posted a 3-1 record
with one save and a 0.76 earned run
average in her five appearances covering
27.2 innings during the week. In that
time, she struck out 14 batters, while
yielding just one walk.
Watt
earned complete-game victories over
Calumet College (IN) on April 5 and
Indiana Wesleyan University at USFs
own Spring Classic on April 9, while
working the first six innings in a 7-5
second-game win over Robert Morris College
on April 7. Earlier that day, she worked
the final inning in a 2-1, eight-inning
win over the Eagles for her second save
of the season.
On
April 8, Watt had a shutout going
through the first seven innings of a
scoreless deadlock with Iowa Wesleyan
College before the Tigers scored two
unearned runs off her in the bottom
of the eighth inning to win 2-1.
Watt
helped herself and the rest of the pitching
staff offensively, as well, during the
week, hitting .353 with six hits, including
two doubles, in 17 at-bats between her
time on the mound and as an outfielder.
She also drove in two runs, while scoring
twice herself.
Four
of Watts hits came in her
victories over Robert Morris and Indiana
Wesleyan, where she posted two hits
in each affair.
For
the season, Watt boasts a team-best
2.21 earned run average to go along
with her 6-4 record and .250 batting
average.
By
going 6-3 for the week, St. Francis
bumped its overall record up to 16-13
on the season.
