USF SIGNS THREE MORE TO LETTERS-OF-INTENT
For Immediate Release
January 17, 2007

JOLIET, Ill. -- University of St. Francis head softball coach Dick Smith has announced the signing of three more high school seniors to letters of intent: Caitlin Dolan, an infielder/outfielder from Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort; Caitlin Griffin, an outfielder/first baseman from Andrew High School in Tinley Park and Kim Malacina, a right-handed pitcher from Lockport Township High School.

Dolan is a three-time letterwinner at Lincoln-Way East entering her senior season. A true utility player, she has split most of her time among third base, shortstop, catcher and the outfield.

Griffin graduated mid-term from Andrew H.S. and is attending Moraine Valley Community College where she will play softball this spring. She will transfer to USF for the coming fall semester and play for the Saints.

Malacina enters her senior season as Lockport and also played club softball for the Homer Hawks. She posted a 9-2 record as a junior at Lockport last spring with a sterling 1.33 earned run average. She recorded 77 strikeouts and walked only nine batters in 68.1 innings pitched. She also allowed no triples or home runs on the season. For the Hawks this past summer, she notched a 1.20 ERA and struck out 164 batters.
