After
claiming player of the year honors from
the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic
Conference as well as the NAIA Region
VII last month, University of St. Francis
sophomore third baseman Jaci Warner
(Plainfield Central H.S./Crest Hill,
IL) has been voted as a second-team
All-American by both the NAIA and the
National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
This
past spring, Warner led USF with
a .679 slugging percentage, 14 doubles,
11 home runs and 51 runs batted in.
Her 33 runs scored and 59 hits ranked
second among the Lady Saints, while
her .358 batting average was the teams
third-highest total.
Warners
11 homers and 51 RBIs are second on
St. Francis all-time single-season
list. Furthermore, despite being a sophomore,
she is second in team history with 21
career home runs.
Along
with her offensive totals, Warner
tallied a .947 fielding percentage after
handling 177-of-187 opportunities at
one of the toughest positions on the
diamond.
"Jaci
definitely deserved these All-American
honors," said USF head coach Dick
Smith. "Shes a complete
player who doesnt have a weakness.
Were fortunate to have her another
two years."
St.
Francis finished the 2005 season with
a 27-29 record.
