THREE SAINTS EARN CCAC POST-SEASON HONORS
For Immediate Release
November 21, 2006

Senior Jill Boyce (Lockport Township H.S./Lockport, IL), junior Lisa Klein (Hall H.S./Ladd, IL) and freshman Kelsey Polte (Hall H.S./Spring Valley, IL) have all been named to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball honor squads.

Boyce, USF’s only senior honoree, was named to the all-CCAC first team for the first time after earning honorable mention recognition from the conference a year ago. Klein is a repeat selection, earning CCAC first-team honors for the third straight season in as many years at St. Francis. Polte captured honorable mention recognition and is the lone USF freshman to receive post-season accolades.

Boyce, a middle blocker, led the Saints in blocks (37 solos, 95 assists, 132 total) and passes (1,019) and was second on the club in kills (307), service aces (64) and digs (430). She played in all 38 matches as a senior and missed only two out of 137 games.

Klein led USF in kills for the third straight season (440) and also led the Lady Saints in service aces (67). She notched a career-best 25 kills in a single match in a five-game victory over Trinity International on Sept. 8 at the Saint Xavier tournament.

Polte served as USF’s starting setter for most of the season, playing in 31 of 38 matches. She led the team with 890 assists (8.6 per game) and was third in service aces (56). Polte took over as the No. 1 setter this fall, replacing four-year starter and four-time all-CCAC pick Erica Gustafson.
