SAINTS’ VOLLEYBALL COACH CARA CURRIER WINS 100TH MATCH

University of St. Francis fourth-year head volleyball coach Cara Currier earned her 100th collegiate coaching victory on Tuesday night when University of St. Francis defeated Illinois Institute of Technology in three straight games.

Currier is now 100-45 with the Saints and 16-5 in the 2005 campaign. She came to USF as an assistant athletics director and assistant volleyball coach in 2000. She assumed the head coaching reins in 2002 and promptly led her squad to a 35-9 record and a trip to the NAIA national tournament, where it tied for 11th place in the nation.

Currier is the thrid head coach in USF volleyball history and the second to win more than 100 matches. Rich Luenemann led the Saints for the program’s first 18 years and posted a 590-262 record. Luenemann is now the head coach at NCAA Division III power Washington MO.
