JOLIET, Ill. --- After posting a near-flawless week on the volleyball court, University of St. Francis was perfect off it in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s and NAIA Region VII’s weekly awards department after it was announced that three Lady Saints netted all of the plaudits.

Senior outside hitter Lisa Klein (Hall H.S./Ladd, Ill.) claimed the league’s Player of the Week distinction, while sophomore Kelsey Polte (Hall H.S./Spring Valley, Ill.) was recognized as the Setter of the Week and junior Courtney Ambrosch (Joliet Township H.S./Joliet, Ill.), the Libero of the Week.

Highlighting Klein’s play was her error-free hitting match in a three-game win over Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in USF’s finale at the Saint Xavier University Tournament over the weekend. That led to Klein’s conference-best .370 attack percentage and 5.19 kills per game for the seven-day period. In five matches, she tallied no less than 13 kills with a high of 22 in another three-set win over University of Saint Mary (Kansas) on Saturday at Saint Xavier.

Klein also averaged 1.31 digs per game and totaled six assists (1 solo, 5 assisted) in her 16 games played.

Polte got the offense going for the Lady Saints, posting a pair of 40-assist matches en route to averaging 11.3 assists per game, to go along with totaling 30 kills, 35 digs, 7 aces and 6 assisted blocks in 16 games.

Ambrosch led USF's defensive efforts. She averaged 4.88 digs per match and boasted a 92.3 passing percentage with her 5.25 passes per game. Against Saint Mary alone, Ambrosch collected 34 digs and 24 passes. She also passed without error in 30 chances in St. Francis’ only setback of the week, a three-game loss to McKendree University to start the Saint Xavier University Tournament on Friday.

USF rebounded with a three-game win over Ashford University (Iowa) as part of its 3-1 record at the tournament.

Earlier in the 4-1 week, the Lady Saints opened conference play with a 30-22, 31-29, 30-23 victory over Saint Xavier. That helped get USF back to within one match of the .500 mark for the season at 6-7.
