of St. Francis
plays host to
Waldorf (IA) in
an NAIA Region
VII Volleyball
Championship tournament
quarterfinal match
on Wednesday,
Nov. 16 at 7:30
p.m. at the USF
Rec Center.
NOTE:
Due to the volleyball
match, the USF
mens basketball
game versus Indiana-Northwest
has been pushed
ahead to a 5 p.m.
tipoff. The volleyball
match is scheduled
for a 7:30 p.m.
start after the
conclusion of
the basketball
game.
The
Saints were eliminated
in the semifinal
round of last
weeks Chicagoland
Collegiate Athletic
Conference tournament
by the No. 1 seed
and eventual champion
Olivet Nazarene.
If USF can defeat
Waldorf, the Saints
will return to
Bourbonnais for
a rematch with
ONU on Friday.
The
six-team Region
VII field includes
top-seed Olivet
Nazarene (CCAC
champion), No.
2 seed Trinity
International
(CCAC runner-up),
third-seeded Iowa
Wesleyan (Midwest
Classic conference
champion), No.
4 USF, No. 5 Waldorf
(Midwest Classic
runner-up) and
No. 6 Mount Mercy
(IA). Olivet Nazarene
and Trinity International
receive byes into
the semifinals.
In addition to
the USF-Waldorf
match on Wednesday,
Mount Mercy will
play a quarterfinal
match at Iowa
Wesleyan. Fridays
semifinals and
Saturdays
championship match
will all be played
at Olivet Nazarene.
The winner of
the tournament
receives an automatic
berth to the NAIA
Championship to
be played at Point
Loma Nazarene
University in
San Diego, Calif.,
Nov. 30-Dec. 3.
The
Saints enter the
Region tourney
with a 27-16 record
and have won four
of their last
five matches.
USF finished in
a tie for fourth
place with Judson
in the CCAC but
advanced to the
Region tourney
thanks to a CCAC
tourney victory
at Judson on Nov.
