COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will provide the student with a working knowledge of the main economies of today’s industrialized world. Special emphasis will be placed on comparing the U.S. with the European Community of Germany, France, Britain, the Asian Community of Japan, S. Korea, and China, along with the transition economies of Russia, Czech Republic and Poland. Trade alliances will also be covered.

EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENTS:
ATTENDANCE: Class participation grade depends on active participation in the class
Discussions. Some assigned discussion will also be used to
Determine points.
EXAMS: The format of the exams will be discussed in class. Any exams
missed on the assigned exam days must be made up on the very
next class meeting and must have prior approval. The exams dates
could be changed if the class needs additional time to master
the material. A week’s notice is given in class as to exact date.
CLASS PAPER: The assigned paper will be a typed paper regarding an economy not
covered in depth in class. All paper will be due on April 15th. The
Oral reports will be given starting on April 15th. A separate handout
will be provided that explains expectations for the written and oral
report.
GRADING POLICY:
EXAMS I – IV 400 points
Class Participation 100 points
Paper & Oral Report 200 points
