Internships

Internships are full or part-time credit bearing, short-term, supervised, work experiences.  They can be established on or off-campus and may be paid or unpaid.  Faculty members, collaborating with an on-site supervisor, monitor and supervise student progress, detail content, and evaluate final achievement.

All current internships are posted on the MyUSFPortal.

Procedures

1.  To receive assistance from the Career Development Center in securing an internship, the student must complete the Internship Application form. This form indicates approval by the faculty advisor regarding the student's eligibility to receive credit and provides the name of the faculty supervisor.  This form along with a resume is to be returned to the Career Development Center.
2.  When this information has been received by the Career Development Center, the student will be given information on how to search potential internship sites like MonsterTrak. A login is not required to view internships but, If prompted for a password you should use "stfrancis"
3.  When an internship site has accepted a student, the student, faculty supervisor, and the on-site intern supervisor must complete an Internship Learning Contract
4.  When the information on the Learning Contract has been completed and signed by the student, faculty supervisor, on-site supervisor, and department chair, the student is responsible for making an appointment with the Dean of the College of Undergraduate Programs for final approval of the internship.  The completed form is turned into the registrar's office.  It is the student's responsibility to get the Internship Learning Contract and contact the supervisors and academic dean for their signatures. Credit will not be awarded unless the form is complete with all necessary signatures and received by the Registrar's office prior to the add/drop date of the semester during which the internship takes place.  For summer session the deadline date is the third Friday after the start of the summer session.  Please refer to the Academic Calendar for exact dates.
