Your group of three can golf away the summer at the most prestigious golf courses in the area with this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Your threesome’s host will be a club member. Dates to be arranged with donors. These top courses are awaiting your tee-offs:

  • Butler National Golf Club – exclusive members-by-invitation-only golf club in Oak Brook has a traditional 18-hole golf course; host to the Western Open Tournament from 1974-1990. For men only.
  • Chicago Highlands Country Club – Course raters and golf professionals rave about this spectacular golf course’s massive fescue hills, sprawling bentgrass fairways and varied settings from hole to hole. Pristine golf topography giving way to sweeping skyline views, along with ever changing winds create one of the most surprising and dynamic golf experiences in the Midwest.
  • Glen Oak Country Club – With acres of trees and natural areas, this course is a supreme example of the care and maintenance exhibited by private clubs. The par-72-layout features a creek and two ponds and can be played from five tee options upward of 6,850 yards.
  • Joliet Country Club - “gem” is the term often used to describe the golf course. The course’s layout has set a standard of excellence for some of the best-designed courses in Chicago.
  • The Oak Park Country Club - “The course of the winding stream”, was designed by architect Donald J. Ross in 1914 and renovated in 2007 by architect Rick Jacobson. This private, full-service 18-hole golf and country club facility is nestled in the near western suburbs.
  • Olympia Fields Country Club – selected by the United States Golf Association as the site of the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship, to be played Aug. 24-30. Founded in 1915, the club boasts four 18-hole courses and the largest private clubhouse in the world with an 80-foot, four-faced clock tower visible to golfers from all four first tees.
  • Onwentsia Country Club – The 18-hole Onwentsia course in Lake Forest features 6,645 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course is rated 71.9.
  • Wynstone Country Club – Established in 1989 in North Barrington, the course is surrounded by one of the most prestigious communities in Lake County.

Run the Fighting Irish Tunnel

Feel the history of winning as your group of four runs through the famous Notre Dame tunnel and touches the flag before the Fighting Irish take on The Stanford Cardinal. Game is on Oct. 4, 2014, the day of Feast of St. Francis. But, first put on that gold helmet. Meet Notre Dame alumnus Ed Shea, OFM, from Joliet’s St. John the Baptist Church, for a campus tour. Then, cheer on Fr. Ed as he plays trumpet in the marching band reunion and attend the after-game Mass. Four tickets and four tunnel passes complete this once-in-a-lifetime Fighting Irish experience.

H-O-R-S-E with Heat #3

Spell out a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work up a sweat taking on the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade, who has been named Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated and established himself as one of the best-known players in the NBA. Two can attend the Dwyane Wade Summer Camp 2014 at Lincoln-Way High Schools for ages 8-18. And, two can take on #6 in a game of H-O-R-S-E. Dwyane had the top-selling jersey in the NBA for nearly two years, and you will get to take a personally signed one (complete with sweat) home to keep forever.

In his third season, Wade led the Miami Heat to its first NBA championship in franchise history. He was named the 2006 NBA Finals MVP as the Heat won the series 4-2 over the Dallas Mavericks. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Wade led the United States men’s basketball team, commonly known as the “Redeem Team”, in scoring, as they captured gold medal honors in Beijing, China. In the 2008–09 season, Wade led the league in scoring and earned his first NBA scoring title. He won his third NBA championship in 2013.
