Keynote Speaker: Kathleen McKinney (View Kathleen McKinney's Abstract)

Dr. McKinney, Cross Endowed Chair in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and Professor of Sociology, at Illinois State University, will address us on a scholarship of teaching and learning project funded by the Carnegie Scholar program. The project was a multi-method study of how sociology majors learn sociology. In the presentation, information about the research questions, methodologies, key results, and implications will be shared. These methodologies, results, and implications are relevant to instructors in other disciplines interested in further enhancing the learning of their students. In addition, the presenter will note example SoTL questions studied by scholars from other disciplines.
