My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that people learn best by "doing", thus increasing their understanding by building on previous knowledge. I employ a student-centered approach in teaching my courses, where the student assumes the majority of the learning responsibility, thus allowing the teacher to become a coach or mentor. Most of my courses require students to work within groups or teams with the students assuming leadership roles within the group framework. Examples of typical group projects and assignment include:

• Students manage their own simulated company.
• Assume the role of Human Resource specialists.
• Group projects and cases that require the students to apply the course material to experiential exercises.
• Group presentations including creation of web pages.

I strongly believe that in order to prepare students for their careers in the business world, teachers must expose them to the latest trends in technology. I integrate the use of technology in all my courses. The use of technology include:

• Software for decision making, reports and presentation.
• Using management simulation programs.
• Using email for communication
• Using Internet/Intranet technology.
• Creation of web page to communicate information.
