Teaching with Learning Objects

Learning objects are used to:

  • teach a basic concept
  • to apply basic concepts in "real world" applications
  • to test mastery
  • to provide simulation
  • to give remedial instruction

They are incorporated into:

  • online courses
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • web pages
  • cd-rom - based materials
  • resources in the classroom or computer lab

Faculty have the option of:

  • linking to a learning object from any of the repositories that contain completed learning objects
  • creating a custom learning object with the assistance of one of CID's instructional designers

I want to learn more about how I can locate and use existing learning objects.

I want to create my own customized learning object.
