Greening of Campus
Sharing knowledge through hands on experience
“Greening”, at the University of St. Francis, is a holistic approach accomplished through big and small actions. Greening penetrates every aspect of the university community from buildings and grounds, food services, and residence life, to academic curricula, ministry, and community service.
Greening is a philosophy rooted in Catholic Franciscanism, The ultimate goal of Greening of the USF Campus is to cultivate among students, faculty, and staff a humble recognition that God made humanity the steward of creation, with personal responsibility for the care and survival of all. Such an understanding of the environment necessitates and nurtures a lifelong respect and commitment to caring for our world.
Green Week at USF is a week-long annual event celebrating Earth Day in April. The events are intended to promote awareness and education about green initiatives and programs on campus and in the community that promote sustainable practices ranging from recycling and energy conservation to sustainable and healthy living.
