Graduate Certificate: Client-Centered Consulting
The Client-Centered Consulting Certificate is for individuals who are already professionals in such fields as health care, education, business, science, the arts, and technology. It is designed to enable professionals to develop their own consulting business, hone their consulting skills, and revitalize the effectiveness of an existing consulting business.
Consulting is an occupation that will expand and extend the career of professionals in many fields. Whether the goal is to act as an internal consultant, supplement a full-time position, enter a career change to become a full time consultant, or extend a professional career after retiring, consulting can provide the flexibility, income and satisfaction of building on existing expertise.
The need for consultants is growing. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, consulting is the third fastest growing industry. The total of all occupations in consulting is expected to increase by 60.5% from 2004 to 2014. The certificate in Client-Centered Consulting focuses on understanding and collaborating with the client to provide direction that is accurate, practical, effective, and based in ethical practice.
You will learn how to:

- Strategically manage interpersonal and small group communication
- Position and market your consulting business
- Improve your ability to sell services to clients
Courses in the Certificate were developed by and are taught by practicing consultants. Assignments are directly applicable to establishing and running an effective consulting business and can be put to immediate use.
All courses are available in a highly interactive format online through the university website. In this format, students have the convenience of completing the certificate any time, any place through their laptop, home, of office computer with an Internet service provider. Taking online courses is a flexible, convenient method for professionals with busy personal, work, and/or travel schedules. It enables students to interact with other professionals from across the United States
The Certificate in Client-Centered Consulting consists of 12 graduate semester hours. Students may take all courses for a Certificate or may select specific courses to meet their individual needs. All courses can be applied as a concentration to the Master of Science in Training and Development.
