Isle A La Cache Museum

On our arrival at Isle la Cache, we traveled back in time to the year 1750 where we met a tired French man named Andre in front of the Des Plaines River. We discovered that Andre is a French voyager from Montreal, Canada who just traveled on a two month trip by himself to trade with the Potawatomi tribe in Illinois. He completed this trip in his canoe which is shown above.

Andre had to be extremely cautious with his goods as he is an outlaw trader. He is considered an outlaw trader because this voyage is usually supported by companies and completed in groups with five different assigned jobs. In order for Andre to create a larger profit he took on all five jobs himself. On his voyage, he had one outfit and had to catch enough food to make two meals a day.

With his trade with the Potawatomi tribe, his goal was to trade his valuable goods, such as metals and cloth, in hopes for a total of 100 beaver furs. For when he returns to Montreal he can trade this fur for 400 franks. This amount would allow him to live modestly until the voyage. This trading took place in his trading cabin. While meeting with Andre, Jill, Katie, and Jamie were allowed to take a tour of his cabin which he inhibited during this stay in Illinois.
