Bishop Joseph L. Imesch Award for "Excellence in Teaching"

Rosemary Moran

St. Pius X School

While teaching at St. Pius X Grade School for thirty-eight years Rosemary Moran has served not only as a Catholic educator, but also as a mentor, role model, and leader. According to St. Pius X principal Patricia Walther, "Mrs. Moran has always been a staunch supporter of Catholic education. Giving freely of her time and talent is ingrained into the character of Mrs. Moran. She has always been one to go beyond what is expected."

Rosemary is an exemplary teacher who is liked and respected by her students. Her classroom is engaging and her students are always actively involved in learning. "She is always changing methods and upgrading to meet the needs of today's students. She might be playing phonics beach ball with a small group of students in the front of the room while another group is off to the side making their stockings in preparation for a visit from St. Nicholas. She runs a very organized classroom. All of her students know what to do and they are ever busy, attentive and open. When it is her students' turn to participate in the planning of the liturgy, they approach the task with reverence and joy. Parishioners came forward after mass to comment to me how wonderfully the children did and how inspired they were by them. The students love doing the right thing for Mrs. Moran. They feel the respect she has for them and for what she is doing. She is truly an inspiration to her students."
