Field Experience Office

 

Field Experience in the College of Education is a unique and integrative practice that allows the teacher candidate the opportunity to apply theories and utilize instructional strategies learned in curriculum and methods classes.

At each field experience level, the teacher candidate is evaluated on Teacher Education Program Outcomes by a university supervisor and cooperating teacher.

The Field Experience Office is located on the main campus in S313 of Tower Hall.

Important News from the Field Experience Office:
  • Protecting God's Children Training
    In June 2002, The National Council of Catholic Bishops approved the "Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People." To meet this initiative, the Joliet Catholic Diocese adopted the program, "Protecting God's Children" as the basis for providing individuals with the skills to deal with thepotential of child sexual abuse in the schools and in society in general. It is required that all adults receive this training proior to their participation in schools within the Diocese.

The College of Education requires that all teacher candidates, field experience supervisors and any instructors or administrations that have contact with K-12 students in any public or private school be trained using the model, "Protecting God's Children." Each trainee will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Please note that USF teacher candidates are not required to create a VIRTUS account and continue training online. This requirement is only for paid employees of the Diocese.
