C's for motivation
Three simple tips may help kids excel

Students can succeed in school if both parents and teachers start with the simple three C's for fostering children's motivation to learn.

With the school year just weeks away, it seems everyone wants to start out on the right foot. To help get parents and teachers on track, a Plainfield educator has a few tips for getting children open to learning.

It all boils down to motivation, and everyone is motivated in one way or another.

USF joins high school education program
JT and university: Latest partner in federal grant to help facilities meet goals

JOLIET - The University of St. Francis is joining a program designed to help underachieving Joliet Township High School students improve their skills in mathematics, reading and science.

The university is the high school's latest partner in a five-year, $4.2 million federal grant that aims to help schools meet the goals of the No Child Left Behind Act.

USF's role is to encourage high school students enrolled in a summer program to consider pursuing a higher education.

Marie Cooper, undergraduate special education major, attended an Audiblox training course through funds won by the Innovative Scholarship offered by the Alumni Relations Office. After successfully completing the course, she was certified to teach the Audiblox program within the school system or to children and adults outside the classroom setting.
