I-Share Catalog defaults to search only the USF library. To see other libraries' holdings, click "I-Share Libraries" (dark green bar at top of screen), then "Begin Searching".

You may place requests for certain items retrieved from the "All I-Share Libraries" database of I-Share Catalog. The requested item can come from any institution other than USF (distance students only may also request USF items), and can be delivered to you at the pick up location of your choice (any I-Share library).

A request can only be made from a single title's "Full", "Brief", or "Staff" view. There is currently no way to place a request for a list of multiple titles.

You must log in with your library affiliation, library borrower ID and last name to place a request (more information below).

Steps to placing a request
  • Search for title.

  • Click on the title to display the title in one of the single-record views (Full, Brief, or Staff).

  • Click the "Request" button on the green toolbar at the top or bottom of the screen.
    • If you have not previously logged in, you will be prompted to do so.
      • Select your library affiliation / home library (U St Francis)
      • Enter your library borrower ID (the barcode on your USF ID card….the number starts with 20…).
      • Enter your last name.
      • Click the "Login" button.

  • Click the drop down menu and select "Request first available copy". Click "OK" or "Proceed".
    • If more than one institution has an available copy, the system will select the "Library that owns item" at random. In some cases, you will be able to select an alternate library.

  • Select the particular item (volume or copy) that you want to request from the drop down menu on the line immediately below the owning library.

  • Re-enter your library borrower ID.

  • Enter any comments you want your institution's circulation staff to view in the "Supply….information" field. Please keep comments as brief as possible.

  • Select the institution at which you wish to pick up the item when it is available.
    • If your pick-up library has more than one possible "pick-up desk", select the service point at which you wish to pick up the item.

  • OPTIONAL: modify the number of days you want the system to "look" for an available copy of the requested item / the number of days after which you no longer need the item. The default "request life" is 21 days.

  • Click the "Submit request" button to submit your request. Click the "Reset" button to clear all fields.

  • The screen will indicate successful request submission. Once you have placed a request, you may check on its status by accessing your patron information from the "MyAccount" button (login as above).
