Construction has begun on Phase 2:
Mother House
All of the demolition has been completed. construction began this week. The three largest crews, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical came in to set up their camps this week.
We are still slated to complete the 3rd & 4th floor of the Mother House which will be dorms. It will be completed by July. The St. Joseph Chapel and the 1st Floor Student Center space should be completed by August. Renderings of the proposed 1st Floor Student Center space will become available shortly and will be distributed amongst the campus community.
The 2nd Floor will remain as it is until a decision is made to determine its future use.
Laundromat
As you may recall, we purchased the Laundromat last fall and are now in the process of having the building processed for tear down. this process will include an abatement which will begin on February 5th through the 14th. Demolition of the structure will immediately follow the conclusion of the abatement.
Parking
We are in mist of purchasing the home located at 612 Wilcox Street. The University owns 614 and 616 Wilcox Street. Despite the eagerness by both the university and the current homeowners, we are still in the process of negotiations. Once the terms are agreeable and the purchase takes place, it will enable us to move forward with demolition of the three remaining properties and the possibility of extending the B parking lot, provided the dollars are available. This extension will provide an additional 40 parking spaces.
We will also investigate the possibility of expanding the circle in front of the Mother House. By doing so, we hope to create an additional 30 parking spaces.
Abbey
The Creation Station, located in the Abbey at Marian Hall, is now open. The Creation Station features a sweet cream ice cream that is blended with your choice of up to 30 different toppings. In addition, there are other featured ice creams, such as Stone Cold ice ream, for your enjoyment. A Grand Opening will be happening shortly.
Campus Beautification
Upon completion of the 2nd phase of the Mother House and the availability of funds, we will access the areas such as the porch and the west side of the building for beautification.
