Properties & Parking
We finally received the permit that we needed from the city to demolish the Laundromat property, therefor, the demolition of the building will begin on Monday, March 5th, or Tuesday, March 6th.
After demolition of the Laundromat is complete, we will begin the demolition of the following properties: 418 Wilcox, 616 Wilcox, 409 Nicholson, and 515 Nicholson. As you may or may not know, these properties are in horrendous shape and the cost is too great to consider renovating for the use as a short term rental. The City of Joliet has been recommending that if we don't renovate, we need to eliminate them.
On Wednesday we closed on 612 Wilcox St. We now own all three properties directly north of the B parking Lot. Cost for the demolition and construction for additional spaces is currently under review. We still plan on continuing the expansion of the circle space in front of the Motherhouse to create additional 30 plus parking spaces.
Campus Beautification
There really is nothing new to report on as far as beautification on the interior of campus goes, however, I am thrilled to report that the Mother Moes statue that will occupy the circle at the corner of Wilcox and Taylor, is approaching its final touches as we speak.
The artist Kathleen Scarbaro, has recently returned from Paris to being the completion of the sculpture. I will keep you abreast of the Mother Moes statue.
