Retreats and Mission Trips
Koinonia Retreat
Koinonia,
a Greek word meaning "community,"
is a student-led retreat supported by the USF
community. This popular, Catholic-based program
has been a cornerstone of University Ministry
for over fifteen years, and attracts a variety
of students of diverse cultural and religious
backgrounds.
Nazareth
Farm
Nazareth Farm, under the auspices of the Diocese of Wheeling/Charleston, West Virginia, formed in response to and rooted in the Gospel and Social Teachings of the Church.
While Nazareth Farm's primary service is home
repair, our work involves much more than just
the physical labor. We go beyond hammering nails
and painting walls and dig deep into the basic
need for people to feel loved and appreciated.
With a focus on social justice and cornerstones
of community, simplicity, prayer and service,
we emphasize working with people rather than
for them, and we strive to always learn from
one another.

Bolivia
Trip
Over the past eleven years, the Diocese of Joliet
has established a relationship with the Diocese
of Sucre, Boliva, in which we send groups of
people and supplies to aid in health care, construction,
and cultural exchanges. Hundreds of doctors,
nurses, and skilled tradesmen have traveled
to Bolivia to provide basic health care, perform
minor surgeries, repair homes and construct
new buildings and living spaces. Our college
missions have provided an opportunity for our
students to work with the youth of their community
with children in orphanages, hospitals for the
disabled, and even prison ministry. One of the
encouraging results of this outreach is that
the youth of their community are becoming more
involved in volunteerism after seeing our college
students do the same.
