Chicago
Sun Times music critic Wynn Delacoma calls Ars
Antigua a "hidden gem." The ensemble
was founded in 2000 by double bass and violone
virtuosos Jerry Fuller, formerly of Chicago Baroque
Ensemble. This early music ensemble performs in
the Chicagoland area, most notably at Quigley
Seminary Chapel in Chicago where they regularly
draw standing-room-only audiences.
The Ars Antigua concert is part of the university's
2003-04 Fine Arts Performance Series. The series
will continue on Saturday, Dec. 13 with a 7:30
p.m. performance by Baltimore Consort of Wassail,
Wassail (Music to Celebrate Christmas). The Baltimore
Consort is a virtuoso ensemble specializing in
the popular music of 16th to 18th centuries and
traditional music rooted in earlier times.
The University of St. Francis is at 500 Wilcox
St. in Joliet. The university serves more than
4,300 students, including 1,800 at its Joliet
