USF nursing students to participate in disaster drill

University of St. Francis nursing students and faculty will participate in a disaster drill on Thursday, Sept. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Nineteen senior nursing students and three faculty members will be involved in the drill. The students will participate in triage and other duties for the Region 7 drill, which includes the southwestern part of the Chicago metropolitan area.

The disaster drill will be a clinical experience for USF nursing students, according to Catherine Ferrario, nursing professor.

The University of St. Francis offers several areas of study in the health field, including nursing, radiation therapy, radiography, medical technology and nuclear medicine technology. USF also has graduate programs in nursing and physician assistant studies.
