HARLEM AMBASSADORS BASKETBALL TOUR COMING TO USF

The internationally acclaimed Harlem Ambassadors basketball team will bring its high-flying slam dunks, spectacular ball-handling tricks and hilarious comedy to the University of St. Francis in Joliet this fall.

As part of a three-continent trip starting in Europe and going to Asia and North America, the Ambassadors’ "Around The World" Tour will make a stop at the USF Recreation Center on Tuesday night, October 28 at 7 p.m.

Advance tickets are available at $5 per person for students and senior citizens and $7 for adults. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact the University’s athletic department at (815) 740-3464.

"Without a doubt, the No. 1 question we get asked is if we are affiliated with that other Harlem team," noted Dick Moss, who founded the Harlem Ambassadors back in 1998 and currently serves as the team’s president and general manager. "Sure, there is a long history and a great public awareness of that other team. But time after time, we get told by fans that have seen both teams that our show is better.

"Our presentation is almost always judged as younger, fresher, livelier and more fan-friendly."

Competing against the Ambassadors will be a team with a major local flair including WJOL Radio morning host Scott Slocum, who will serve as a player/coach, Judge Steven White, Chief of Judges in Will County, and former USF and major league pitcher Steve Parris. St. Francis will also be represented on the team by its president, Dr. Michael Vinciguerra, and former standouts Scott Pekol and Chris Prieboy Quigley, whose number 22 has been retired by the school. Current St. Francis women’s basketball coach and former Lewis University great Frank Kaminsky will also take part.

Companies or organizations that might be interested in sponsoring youth groups to attend the show can contact Dave Laketa, USF Director of Athletics, at (815) 740-3842. A sponsorship of ten kids costs just $50.
