Two USF College of Nursing students receive national recognition

Two University of St. Francis College of Nursing and Allied Health (CONAH) undergraduate students received national scholarships from the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) at the organization’s annual Convention Awards ceremony.  Seniors Lenee Powell of Crest Hill and Monique Graves of Chicago both received scholarships from the NSNA and both were recognized by the Illinois Nurses Association.

Powell received the AONE Nursing Leadership Scholarship, sponsored by the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Graves received one of only 94 2007 Promise of Nursing Regional Scholarships offered nationwide.

“It is our firm belief that students involved in their pre-professional nursing organization will be the ones to lead Illinois nursing into the next decade,” said Kathleen M. Perry, president of the Illinois Nurses Association.  “Developing leaders that will take our profession to the next level is a challenge, however, it is obvious that the University of St. Francis, College of Nursing has taken the challenge seriously,” Perry added.
