USF nursing accepted into international honor society

The University of St. Francis College of Nursing and Allied Health has been accepted as a chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing.

Nursing programs belonging to Sigma Theta Tau demonstrate a commitment to nursing excellence, knowledge, service and leadership, according to Maria Connolly, dean of USF’s College of Nursing and Allied Health.

The chartering ceremony for USF’s Upsilon Delta chapter on Feb. 9 included Carol Picard, president of Sigma Theta Tau International, as the chartering officer and featured speaker.  Also participating was Frances Leckrone, RN, MSN, a benefactor of the university and  former faculty member.

The ceremony included the presentation of the charter and the coat-of-arms, signing of the book, and presentation of the ribbons and membership certificates to the 67 new members.
