Adult and transfer students can learn about educational options at University of St. Francis
A national leader in providing educational opportunities to adult learners, the University of St. Francis offers programs that are immediately applicable to the work place and that help with career advancement. Transfer, graduate and nursing students can learn more about University of St. Francis programs and the many course delivery options available, including online, during an open house, Tuesday, March 28.
For the convenience of working adults, the March 28 open house will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Students will be able to learn about transferring credits, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and even apply and register for the fall semester, according to Ron Clement, dean of Admissions.
USF counselors will provide credit evaluations, Clement added. The open house will be at the University of St. Francis’ main campus at 500 Wilcox St. in Joliet. For more information or to R.S.V.P. for the open house, call (800) 735-7500; e-mail admissions@stfrancis.edu; or reply online at www.stfrancis.edu/openhouse.
USF offers a variety of programs designed for adult learners and transfer students, Clement noted. Undergraduate credits can also be earned for previous education and professional experience. Courses are offered at a variety of convenient locations, day and evening, online and through faculty-directed study. Accelerated evening and weekend courses are also offered.
Two new degrees for working adults interested in advancing their careers and leadership skills are offered by the University of St. Francis. The bachelor of science in Health Care Leadership and in Organizational Leadership are accelerated degree-completion programs for working adults who have associate’s degrees or equivalent college credits. The programs are designed for those who are in or seek to be in mid-level management positions and wish to strengthen their leadership skills and marketability
Organizational Leadership provides study in general leadership areas such as interpersonal communication, team building, ethical issues and strategies for change. Students may select from two concentrations: Organizational Effectiveness and Information Technology.
Health Care Leadership is for licensed or certified health care professionals such as medical lab assistants, nurses or physical therapy assistants as well as those in supporting health care roles such as administrative assistants or office managers. The program also provides for study of general leadership areas along with specific curriculum in health care topics such as information management, regulation and policy and accounting and budgeting.
Two other degree completion programs are offered: the Bachelor of Science in Applied Organizational Management for business study and the R.N.-B.S.N. Fast Track program for registered nurses with a diploma or A.D.N.
"Many adults have experienced college-level learning outside the traditional classroom, such as work experience, non-credit courses, seminars and training programs. Adult students may be eligible for prior learning credit for courses in the program of their choice," noted Clement.
The university’s graduate programs are designed for working professionals. Classes are offered at a variety of convenient locations and online.
