University of St. Francis faculty earn promotions
Four University of St. Francis faculty members have earned promotions. The faculty members were recognized at the university’s 23rd annual Academic Honors and Awards Convocation on May 3. Certificates of promotion were presented by University of St. Francis President Michael J. Vinciguerra.
Michael “Chester” Costello was promoted to associate professor of visual arts. Costello serves as chair of the Visual Arts Department, and is responsible for completely revising the curriculum. Costello, a Chicago resident, holds a master of fine arts degree from Columbia College, and has become well-known for his professional photography work. He joined the USF faculty in 1999.
Catherine Ferrario was promoted to associate professor of nursing. She holds a doctor of Nursing Science degree form Rush University and is a certified family nurse practitioner. Her scholarship includes research on critical thinking in nursing practice and gerontology. She is a Plainfield resident who joined the USF faculty in 2000.
Florida Freeman was promoted to professor of nursing. She holds a doctor of Nursing Science degree from Rush University and has focused her research on gerontology and gerontological education. She is a Shorewood resident who joined the USF faculty in 1988.
Cathleen McDonnell Schultz was promoted to professor of history. She holds a Ph.D. from New York University. Her scholarship has focused on her History in the Movies column that has grown in national newspaper readership since she started it in 2003. She is presently writing a textbook with the working title of History for the Rest of Us. A Joliet resident, Schultz joined the USF faculty in 1995.
