USF Sometimes Thespians to perform Proof

The University of St. Francis Sometimes Thespians student drama group will present the Pulitzer Prize- winning story, Proof.  The show will open on Thursday, July 26 and goes until Sunday, July 29.  The show will be performed in the Moser Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  The Sunday matinee will begin at 3 p.m. in the Moser Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre.  Tickets are $8 adults and $5 for students and seniors.  For ticket reservations call Sue Trousil at 815.740.3367.

Proof is a drama about a young girl, Catherine, who is dealing with the death of her brilliant mathematician father, Robert.  He left behind 103 notebooks filled with possible mathematical proof’s.  Hal, Robert’s ex-student is searching through these notebooks, expecting to find the last work of a genius.  Hal finally discovers a notebook that is possibly the most brilliant and ahead of its time proof ever written.  While dealing with her nagging sister Claire and love affair with Hal, Catherine has claimed that the proof in her father’s desk drawer is actually hers!  A wild search for the author unfolds in front of the audience’s eyes.

Directing this performance is senior Nicole Talaga of Joliet.  Assistant director is Amanda Guzman of Plainfield.  USF Senior Sera O’Connor of Worth, as Catherine, will be acting in her 12th and final show as part of the Sometimes Thespians.  Steve Shanks of Bolingbrook will play the part of Hal.  Diandra Cecchetti of Bolingbrook will be playing the part of Claire, and Chuck Peterson of Joliet as the deceased father Robert complete the cast.
