'Quadstock'
brings area's diverse talent to the
University of St. Francis
"Quadstock," the University of St. Francis' family-oriented community music festival, will offer a taste of the area's finest performers on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the university's quadrangle.
In
case of rain, Quadstock will be moved indoors
to USF's Recreation Center.
Last year, the first year of the festival, more
than 400 people attended Quadstock. Quadstock
was begun as part of the university's Presidential
Inauguration and Homecoming celebration. "The
University of St. Francis is pleased to be home
to a new tradition that brings our community together
in celebration of diverse and exciting talent,"
said USF President Michael Vinciguerra. "We
began Quadstock as a way to open our campus to
the community, and hope even more people will
join us this year," he added.
Admission is free to Quadstock, which is co-sponsored
by The Herald News, which will have a booth at
the event. Mr. Bill's Music will provide sound
equipment and services.
This year, the music festival will feature soloists
from the university's Schola Cantorum student
choir, along with Spiritline, USF's cheer/dance
squad.
Generation Dance Company will perform along with
the Joliet Area Suzuki Strings children's ensemble,
La Danse Academie, and the TEE & Company choir.
Providence Catholic High School's Drama Club will
perform vignettes from "And Then They Came
for Me." Cumbia Dancing, featuring Alicia
and Carlos Morales is scheduled along with the
Joliet Junior College Irish Dancers and the Sweet
Adelines.
USF students Joe Van Der Bosch and Rick Susner
will perform their unique blend of folk and rock.
Jeff Jaskoviak will also perform on guitar.
The Joliet Jackhammers Jammer will be at the event.
The Joliet Fire Department will provide a fire
safety presentation. The Joliet Police Department
will provide fingerprinting for children.
USF student clubs and organizations will offer
food and games for kids, including face painting
and a jumper. The USF Alumni Association will
also have a booth.
The University of St. Francis is at 500 Wilcox
St. in Joliet. USF serves more than 4,300 nationwide,
including 1,800 at its Joliet campus. The university
offers more than 60 areas of undergraduate study
