USF’s Schola Cantorum, JTHS orchestra present spring concert
The University of St. Francis Department of Music and Performing Arts will present the Schola Cantorum’s 13th annual spring concert on April 21-22. Schola Cantorum will be accompanied by the Joliet Township High School Chamber Orchestra.
The concerts will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, which is a free sneak preview, and at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 22 in the university’s Moser Performing Arts Center auditorium. Tickets for the Friday concert are $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Reservations are recommended. Call (815) 740-3404 for reservations or information.
The concert will feature Gabriel Faure’s Requiem, with USF student soloists Jacky Radowiscz of Bolingbrook, and Paris Primm of Joliet. The Requiem will be accompanied by the Joliet Township High School Chamber Orchestra, directed by Pamela Breuning.
The USF Schola Cantorum, Chamber Singers and soloists will also perform works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Gershwin, selections from Chicago, and vocal jazz pieces. The USF choirs are directed by Patrick Brannon, USF professor of music, and accompanied by Beverly M. Holt.
Student soloists include Nina Lennon, Carrie Monaco and Maria Zavala of Joliet, Brian F. Herbst of Plainfield, Amanda Welsh of Minooka, Stephanie Whyte of Wilmington, Therese Miller and Joshua T. Mancuso of Shorewood and Jessica Jannusch of Robbinsdale, Minnesota.
Other members of the USF Schola Cantorum include: Jamin Gahm, Michele Hernandez, Nicole Lopez, Nicholas Matesevac, and John Scatena of Joliet, Susan Howard of Rockdale, Candace Saganiuk and Sarah Scott of Plainfield, Nicholas Cerovac of Shorewood, Brittany Hoffman of Frankfort, Amanda Mai Yang of Lemont, Lacey Petrella of Minooka, Aaron M. Gilmore, Debra Gilmore and Lera Tuskey of Morris, Jamie Purcell of Elwood, Michael R. Roszyk of Bolingbrook, Katherine A. Phillips of Park Forest, Kevin Leonard of Palos Park, David Murray of Franklin Park, Racette Miranda and Joseph Zordan of Chicago.
The University of St. Francis, at 500 Wilcox St. in Joliet, serves 4,300 students nationwide with 60 areas of undergraduate study and 11 graduate programs.
