Learn if teaching is the right career for you at USF conference
We all know that teachers touch the lives of many and shape the future for all, but how will you know if teaching is the right career for you. A new conference at the University of St. Francis will help high school students decide if teaching is the right career path for them. The conference is free to area students.
Have You Ever Thought About Being A Teacher? on Saturday, March 11, will provide useful information about what it’s like to work in the education field. Participants will meet with teachers and principals from area schools to find out what it’s like to be a teacher. College students will also share their experiences in student teaching, in teacher preparation courses and other activities. Participants are encouraged to ask questions during this interactive conference, said Stephen F. Midlock, assistant professor in the College of Education at the University of St. Francis, who organized the conference. The Future Educators Association at the University of St. Francis sponsors the conference.
Participants will choose three conference sessions: Elementary School Career information; Middle School Career information; High School Career information; Special Education Career information; What it’s like to be a College of Education Student; Team Building Activity; or Applying to College and Getting Financial Aid. Teachers, principals and other professionals working in the education field lead sessions.
The conference is free, but pre-registration is required. Participants will receive lunch and a t-shirt. To register or for more information, call (815) 740- 3528.
